Last day, first front tooth

On Maya’s last day of First Grade she finally lost her first front tooth.  This tooth had been so loose and sticking out of her mouth for several days now.  I guess it was just waiting for the right time to come out.  I guess she was playing with some of her school friends when the tooth started bleeding and she ended up pulling it out.  This is actually her third tooth to come out.

Happy Birthday!

Dear Maya,

Happy Birthday to you! I’ve loved being your father over the past 7 years. You’ve been a fantastic daughter and such a joy to be around.  You make me laugh and always make me smile.  It’s been fun and educational to see you grow and develop from an infant to a toddler to child.  You have a kind heart and have great comedic timing. You are keenly aware of not only your surroundings but the people in it.  It is this quality that I admire the most in you. You’re sensitive one moment and “big cousin attacker” in the next.  I greatly enjoy the time I spend with you because I like seeing the world through your eyes and imagination.  You have such great questions and care about the answers to those questions.  I enjoy talking with you and wonder what you’re thinking about when you look out the window as we speed down the freeway.  It’s been my pleasure being your dad and helping you learn and grow.  But in truth you have also helped me learn and grow right along side you.

So enjoy your birthday today!

I love you,

Dad
