Cousins

The other night I told Maya that Michael (her cousin) was going to be out of the state for a week...working at some sort of leadership camp. She didn't take this news very well. She really started to cry. She was so emotional. Between her gasps for air she said she didn't like it when her cousins were out of the state because she would miss them so much. And she was upset that she didn't get to say 'good-bye' to Michael. Since it was already late, I didn't want to call Michael (he was flying out the next day) but I did send him a text message to find out what time he was flying. The next morning I asked my dad if he would call Michael before his flight so Maya could say good-bye to him.

I was just very surprised by the amount of emotion Maya expressed about missing Michael.

Life is going to be difficult for Maya, I fear.
